Kim Roush, technology trainer

Each year during AmeriCorps Week, AmeriCorps members and alums are recognized for the extraordinary impact they make across our nation every day.  The popularity of our new program is a testament to the great need for technology training in our community, and Kimberly has embraced the task head-on to provide outstanding service and learning opportunities for our patrons.

Since our technology and computer training program launched in November 2015, Kimberly has utilized her part-time hours to help dozens of library patrons with their educational needs.

Here are just a few examples of trainings Kimberly has provided:

  • Microsoft Office programs
  • Resume creation
  • Computer basics
  • Computer troubleshooting
  • Intro to the Internet
  • Chromebook programming and troubleshooting
  • Antivirus education
  • Job searching online
  • Intro to typing
  • Photo basics (downloading/uploading/ordering prints online)
  • Smartphone setup and troubleshooting
  • Setting up and using email
  • Library catalog and website navigation
  • Using Facebook
  • How to search Google
  • Installing and using Skype
  • Using ancestry resources
  • Setup and how to use eReaders and download eBooks

Technology training sessions last about an hour or less, and are private and one-on-one, letting you guide the pace at which you’d like to learn.

In addition to walk-in and scheduled appointments at all branches of the library, Kimberly has met with patrons at the Pike County Senior Center, Bridgehaven Homeless Shelter, and Bristol Village.

Call Kimberly today at (740) 443-9621 to schedule a training session at your convenience.  Through the Guiding Ohio Online program, the Garnet A. Wilson Public Library hopes to increase the technological intelligence, ability, and confidence of Pike County community members.  This useful service is made possible by ServeOhio, AmeriCorps, and the State Library of Ohio.
